Merle B Whitfield

EUTAW – Merle B. Whitfield, age 81, of Eutaw, died June 20, 2016. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Eutaw First United Methodist Church with Rev. Deborah E. Born and Rev. Bill Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in Mesopotamia Cemetery with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Whitfield; son, James William Whitfield; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Baines; and sisters, Earline Miles and Barbara Williams. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Hamilton (Jacky) and Cheryl Coblentz (Ron); brother, Thomas Baines; and grandchildren, Taylor Hamilton, Hannah Coblentz, Tristen Whitfield Lee, Kyndal Coblentz and Paige Hamilton. Merle was a member of Eutaw First United Methodist Church, the New Era Club and Arts Club. She retired in the late 1990's and returned to the work force in 2001. She was the Bookkeeper for Piggly Wiggly in Eutaw for 15 years before retiring in 2015 due to her health. Pallbearers will be James Bird, Jack Johnston, James Wilson, Tyler Landolt, Chris Hamilton, Norton Prout and Johnny McGahee. Honorary pallbearers are Greyfield Hamilton, Joe Carroll Sanders, Bobby Landolt, Bennie Abrams, Lon Vance, Joe Fricks, Ernie Halper and Steve Beeker.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Eutaw Methodist Church or Eutaw Ambulance Service.
