Michael Ellis St. John, born on March 3, 1963, passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 62. A resident of Vance, Alabama, Michael was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, known affectionately as "Gampaw." He was born to the late Ek and Hazel St. John and was predeceased by his son, Matthew St. John.
Michael's proudest accomplishments were his three children, Adam, Matt, and Jacob, who were his world. He worked hard every day to provide for his family and adored every one of his grandchildren. He never missed a ballgame, dance recital, hunting, or camping trip if he could help it.
His passion was his Harley, and he cherished many trips to Panama City Beach and Sturgis, happiest when riding in the wind. Michael and his wife, Tracy Karnes St. John, took a leap of faith on a blind date that resulted in 28 years of marriage. Their love was expressed through travels to St. John, USVI, snorkeling, and spending weekends in Gatlinburg, as well as cherishing every moment with their children and grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his wife, Tracy Karnes St. John; his sons, Adam St. John (Brittany) and Jacob Koontz; his sister, Debra Bowman (Greg); his brother, Mark St. John (Patty); and his grandchildren, Jason St. John, Abigail St. John, Trenton St. John, Caiden St. John, and Carson St. John.
Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, located at 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 35405, on October 8, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A graveside service will follow on October 9, 2025, at 10:00 am.
Pallbearers will include Jeff Regan, Drew Wheley, Roger Busch, Josh Lancaster, and Brandon Lancaster.
