Patricia Thomas, age 79, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away February 1, 2019. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Memory Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosalie Watts Phelps; father, Rufe Frank Phelps; brother, Kenneth Frank Phelps; sister, Elaine Phelps White; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Collins (Judy).
Survivors include her daughter, Julie Thomas Price; son, David R. Thomas (Kelly Hammond); sister, Judy P. Collins; grandchildren, Rick Price and Katie Price (Evan Mathis) and nephews and nieces, Kenny Phelps, Steve Phelps, Walter Phelps, Timothy Phelps, Randy Phelps, Joyce Hayman, Mark White, Scott Collins, Chris Collins and Brett Collins.
Mrs. Thomas was a 1957 graduate of Holt High School. She then attended the University of Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music. She taught music and English at Eastwood Middle School, Foley High School, and Southside High School in Selma, Ala., then began as an Emergency Room Admission Clerk at DCH Hospital before retiring as an ED Clerk Supervisor. During this time she was also a (mostly) single parent to her daughter and son. After retirement, she was a volunteer at Northport DCH.
Pallbearers will be Rick Price, Kenny Phelps, Steve Phelps, Scott Collins, Brett Collins and Chris Collins.
Honorary pallbearers are Lois Ann Hutchins, Alberta Erreguin and family, Diane and Stanley Blevins, Kelly Martin, Ambria and Brandon Taylor, Doris Holman, Holt High School Class of 1957 and special family friend, Mike Morrison.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Hospital of Alabama.
