Graveside Service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. Alan Roggli officiating, with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations a Dignity Memorial Provider directing.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Leigh Savage Colburn, parents, General Alonzo Savage, Leoma Savage Boggan, brother, Charles L. Savage and grandson, Tyler Waites Savage.
Survivors include his wife, Rollie Hodo Savage, sons, Phelan (Phil) Booth Savage Jr. (Kathy), Bryan Keith Savage (Cindy), sisters, Dot Davis and Katie Stokes, sister-in-law, Marie Savage, brother, Don Savage, grandchildren, Kevin Colburn, Matthew Colburn (Hollie), Dustin Savage, Cody Savage, Kristen Holley (Jeremy), and Brandy Mardis, and great grandchildren, Dawson Doleys, Shepherd Doleys, Austin Mardis, and Dylan Mardis.
Phelan and Rollie were married 67 years. Phelan graduated from Holt High School in 1954. He worked at Central Foundry and B F Goodrich. After retiring he was a driver for Tuscaloosa Chevrolet. He was a member and Deacon at Carrolls Creek Baptist Church. Phelan played the stand-up Bass with Carrolls Creek Bluegrass Band. He loved Alabama football and attended games for years. He loved golf, boating, horseback riding, and hunting. He loved hunting with his two sons and grandsons. He also loved flying airplanes.
Pallbearers included Mike Hogue, Bill Leow, Ralph Cabaniss, Stan Acker, Dalton Bobo and Phillip Gurganus.
Honorary pallbearers include King’s Sunday School Class at Carrolls Creek Baptist Church, Dr. Ross Vaughn and Dr. James Proctor.
