TUSCALOOSA | Richard Allen Powell, age 58, of Tuscaloosa, died April 6, 2014, at UAB Hospital. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Heritage Chapel with Brother Stan Henson officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Taylor Powell and sister, Betsy Balentine.Survivors include his mother, Madeleine R. Powell; dearest friend, Melanie Tish McCroy; best friends, Chip Parsons, Daniel Dobbins, and Trey Parsons; sisters, Doris Weathers (Jimmy) and Virginia Duncan (Jesse); brothers, Eddie T. Powell (Vickie) and Robert W. Powell (Gail); nephews, Brandon Balentine (Ashley), Justin Cooper (Christal), Preston Cooper (Katie), Eric Duncan, Keith Powell, and Jonathan Powell (Brittney); and nieces, Dana Gurganus (David), Angie Kimbrell (Traycie), and Natalie Chappell (Paul).Honorary pallbearers are Cliff Oswalt, Stephen Norris, Bill Brown, Franz Stranninger, Maria Stranninger, and Dr. Luis Pernia.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Charity Care UAB Hospital.Condolences may be offered at www.heritagechapeltuscaloosa.com
