Richard Rouse

Richard Lett Rouse, age 64, of Cottondale, died April 1, 2013, at home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Brookwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlie Simmons officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Colleen Rouse; father, Jimmy Rouse; and brother, Brooksie Rouse.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Gore Rouse of Cottondale; daughters, Ginger Rouse and Chris Rouse of Cottondale and Robin Rouse Holmes (Kelly Holmes) of Tuscaloosa; sister, Patsy Thompson (James Thompson) of Moundville; brother, Joe Rouse (Marcia Rouse) of Holt; and grandchildren, Riley Grace Holmes and Abby Kate Holmes.

Richard was a loving husband and father. He loved and adored his granddaughters. He grew up in Circlewood and attended Holt High School. He worked at Gulf States, and later became a member of UMWA, and gave many years of service at Alberta Amoco. After he retired, he became a great cook, and enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger. He attended Brookwood Methodist Church where he enjoyed getting his hugs from all the ladies every Sunday.
