
Rita Blanche Rodriguez, age 95, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on May 30, 2017. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:45 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tuscaloosa. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Father Michael Deering officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery in Tuscaloosa with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Rodriguez, Sr. and Blanche Boudreaux Rodriguez; sisters, Leonie Rodriguez of New Orleans, La. and Rosemary R. Bel of Metairie, La.; brother, William J. Rodriguez of Metairie, La.; aunts, Marie Rodriguez and Rosalie R. Martinez; and goddaughter and niece, Jude W. LeePard of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Survivors include a sister, Estelle R. Weir of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two goddaughters; one godson; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great-nieces; great-great-nephews; cousins; and dear friends.
Rita was born on July 19, 1921, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from John McDonogh High School and Soule Business College in New Orleans. She worked for the American Red Cross during World War II and Shell Oil - Shell Pipeline for 41 years in New Orleans.
Pallbearers will be great-nephews, Randy Arnold, Kris Bradford, Todd Coffey, Austin LeePard, Scott Stansell and great-great-nephews, Cole Coffey and Noah Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are her beloved nephews, great-nephews and great-great-nephews.
