

Robert “Whoppo, Fred” Fred Wallace Sr., age 69, beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, Paw Paw, and friend, went to his heavenly home on March 21, 2025, at 7:28 pm at DCH Regional Medical Center with multiple health problems.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. Gene Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eunice Wallace of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In Loving Memory, Randy Snyder, Steve McCracken, and Barry Livingston.
Robert is survived by his wife of 47 years Deborah “Debbie” Benefield Wallace of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; daughter, Haley Wallace Helms (Matt); son, Robert Fred Wallace Jr. “Rob”; sister, Phyllis W. Holley (Hugh) of Georgia; grandchildren, Kylee Bailey, Maci Jo, Luke and Mason Martin, JC and Lucy Wallace; step grandchildren, Brayden, Brooklyn, and Baylon Helms; nieces and nephews, along with many extended loved ones.
Robert was a Christian who loved his Lord and Savior. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1973. Robert loves anything in the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, working out and lifting weights, shooting guns, and playing many sports. He was known for his dedication to coaching little league baseball at Taylorville Ballpark for many years. He enjoyed mentoring and guiding young athletes on the field while also striving to teach his players the value of teamwork, determination, hard work, and to try your best always. He loved watching his children play baseball and softball all through high school and college. He was one of his grandchildren’s biggest fans and loved watching them when able. Robert was a man of few words, but his heart was always so big. He had a great sense of humor and cared very much for others. Robert will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.
Pallbearers will be Rob Wallace, Matt Helms, Fred Johnson, Jay Suttle, Bill Suttle, Jon Suttle, Ray Redden, Ryan Dowling, Chris Davis, Carl Hurst and Phillip Eady.
Honorary pallbearers are the Wallace family, Gregg Mitchell, Mike Honeycutt, Hugh Holley, The Class of 1973 Blackbears, all softball and baseball teammates, medical doctors and staff, Taylorville Little League baseball coaches, players and families, fellow employees of Alberta Winn-Dixie, Kwik Chek, Warehouse Grocery, Reichhold Chemicals, Taylor Hardin, B.F. Goodrich and beloved friends.
