Ruth Hamilton Tucker

Ruth Hamilton Tucker, age 88, of Tuscaloosa, was born November 17, 1927 and died May 3, 2016. Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd. E., Tuscaloosa, AL 35405, on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Chaplin Billy Skelton of Journey Hospice will officiate. Burial in Memory Hill Gardens will be private.She was preceded in death by her parents, Spurgeon and Minnie Hamilton; her husband, William Herndon Tucker; and sisters, Margaret Blizzard and Dorothy Abrams.She is survived by daughter, Shirley Nicholls (Frank); son, Steve Tucker (Neda); grandchildren, Shannon Miller and Travis Tucker (Sunita); great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Madeline Miller; and several nieces and nephews.Mrs. Tucker was a devoted wife for 54 years of marriage and a constant caregiver to her husband for almost 20 years preceding his death in 2001. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church for more than 50 years, and a loyal friend to many.The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Heritage Health Care, Brookdale Place Northport, Journey Hospice, and Dr. Regina Harrell for their kindness and compassionate care in Mrs. Tucker's final years.In lieu of flowers, please honor Mrs. Tucker's memory with gifts to Alzheimer's of Central Alabama, (www.alzaca.org), P.O.
