Sarah Arzell Walker

COTTONDALE Sarah Arzell Cooley Walker, age 71, of Cottondale, died Nov. 5, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Enterprise Baptist Church with J.W. Kornegay and Todd Burkhalter officiating. Burial will follow in Enterprise Baptist Church Cemetery with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Prude Pierson and Bertha Reach Pierson; and her husbands, Charles “Bud” Cooley and William V. Walker, Jr.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia “Pete” Eaton (Steve) of Vance, Becky Jean Cooley of Dudley, Dinah Jane Cooper of Coaling, and Sara “Boobie” Averett (Gary) of Coaling; her stepchildren, Thomas R. Walker (Ann) of Dudley, Cheri Kline (Ralph) of Freeport, Fla., Bill Walker, III (Kelly) of Coaling, Ken Walker (Barbara) of Pace, Fla., Skip Walker of Birmingham, Cindy Moore (Tony) of Prattville, and Becky Moore (Steve) of Navarre Fla.; her brothers, Herbert Pierson (Jeri) of Brookwood, Glynn Pierson (Gaynell) of Vance, Ed Pierson (Gaynell) of Vance, Donnie Pierson (Kathy) of Vance, and Mike Pierson (Beth) of Brookwood; her sisters, Shirley Burnett (James) of Brent, LaShawn Gregg of Vance, Peggy Pratt (Jimmy) of Brent, and JoAnn Barger of Vance; her grandchildren, David Cooper (Jennifer) of Cottondale, Daniel Cooley (Beth) of Cottondale, Homer Eaton of Brookwood, Will Averett (Laura) of Brookwood, Ricky Averett (Kay) of Coaling, Jessy Averett of Coaling, Amber Wilson (Thomas) of Coaling, Kristy Williams (Junior) of Dudley, Donielle Eaton (Stevie) of Coaling, and Samantha Heptinstall of Coaling; and her great-grandchildren, Rayna Heptinstall, Spencer Cooper, Aydan Phelps, Samuel Heptinstall, and Jax Cooper.

Pallbearers will be David Cooper, Daniel Cooley, Homer Eaton, Stevie Phelps, Rocky Heptinstall, Will Averett, Ricky Averett, and Jessy Averett.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. David Harding, Denise Nichols, John and Betty Westburg, Jon and Dot Hill, Mary Ollie Snider, Employees of Five Points Rite Aid, DCH Home Healthcare, Coaling Volunteer Fire Department, Haysol Baptist Church, and special friends Jay and Linda Stewart.
