

Ted R. Brock, age 88, of Tuscaloosa, died April 26, 2017, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Donald Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.Ted grew up in Duncanville, Alabama. He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1947, ordained to the Gospel Ministry by Forest Lake Baptist Church in 1952, graduated from the University of Alabama in 1954 and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1955.In 1955, Ted married Louise Chism and they had three children: Melanie (Brock) Crane (Greg) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Jeff Brock (Esha) of Marbury, Alabama and Drew Brock (Cindy) of Marion Junction, Alabama. Also, they have seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.He pastored for 41 years in the following churches: Chesterfield Baptist Church & Skinquarter Baptist Church in Moseley, Virginia from 1955-57, Meadow Drive Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama from 1957-64, Plainview Baptist in Tarrant City, Alabama from 1964-66, Cascade Baptist Church as Associate Pastor in Atlanta, Georgia from 1966-68, South Highland Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama from 1968 to 78, Northside Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama from 1978-88 and Hillabee Baptist Church in Alexander City, Alabama from 1988-96.Ted served several terms on the Alabama State Board of Missions. He served one term on the Executive Board of the Alabama State Board of Missions and 16 years as a Special Stewardship Worker for the Alabama Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.Ted retired from full-time pastorate in May 31, 1996 but served as Interim Pastor to Good Hope Baptist Church in Hale Association in Alabama in two years. He fully retired in 1998 and moved to Tuscaloosa, returning to serve as a member of Forest Lake Baptist Church.Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. Payne and Deacons of Forest Lake Baptist Church.
