
Miss Pradat was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Edward Pradat and Susie Pearce Pradat; her brother, Edward Pradat; and her sister, Margaret Marshall.
She is survived by her sister, Susie Simpson; and brothers, John Pradat (Laura) and Rev. Ray Pradat (Jane).
Miss Pradat was born in New Orleans, La. and was a graduate of West End High School in Birmingham. She graduated from The University of Alabama when she was 20 years old, receiving a degree in Mathematics from the College of Education. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an education honor society, and Pi Mu Epsilon, a math honor society.
Prior to graduation in 1938, she began her employment with The University of Alabama, working in the Office of the Registrar. After graduation, she was appointed Assistant to the Registrar. She became University Recorder in 1945, Registrar in 1962, and Director of Records and Registrar in 1974. She retired in 1979 after 41 years of dedicated service to The University of Alabama, its faculty, staff, students, and graduates.
Among her many duties, Miss Pradat directed 78 commencement exercises and certified some 80,500 degree recipients. She served the university under six Presidents. Miss Pradat was a devoted friend to university students, as evidenced by her selection as recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award in 1974.
She was a longtime, faithful communicant of Canterbury Episcopal Chapel and served on the Vestry.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Canterbury Episcopal Church with Rev. Marc Burnette officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
Honorary pallbearers are Walter Simpson, Johnny Pradat, David Pradat, Bill Stevens, Tony Neathery, Thomas Canterbury, Roland Ficken, and Ben Porter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Canterbury Chapel or The University of Alabama.
