

VANCE | Terry Lee Darr, age 66, of Vance, died August 12, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Kalinich officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Darr; father, Donnis Darr; sister, Joyce Hanzo; and brother, Tom Darr.Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Darr of Vance, Ala.; daughter, Sonia Marie Burrage (Eric) of Brookwood, Ala.; sons, Terry Darr Coshocton, Ohio and Chad Everett Darr (Jessica) of Brookwood, Ala.; sister, Shirley Hahn (Denny) of Millersburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Corey Nicole Burrage, Zachary Daniel Burrage and Marlee Grace Kizziah; multiple nieces and nephews and a host of friends.On August 12, 2015, Terry Darr left this life at the age of 66 to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born November 12, 1948 in Coshocton, Ohio to Donnis and Wilma Darr and lived the first 30 years of his life there where he and his wife, Patty Darr, were married on December 4, 1971.He moved his family to the Brookwood, Ala. community in 1978 and worked for the Jim Walter Resources as an underground coal miner until his retirement. Terry was a proud man who worked hard to provide for his family, which was always his first priority. He was a person who wanted to give back to the community and made many friends through his generosity. He achieved a world title in weight lifting in 2000, and shared his passion and knowledge of this sport with the youth in the community of Brookwood and elsewhere earning him the affectionate title of "Coach."Terry followed Auburn football and loved to talk football. He also enjoyed hunting, tending to his flowers and vegetable garden and his dogs, Mickey and Minnie, in his retirement years. Honorary pallbearers will be Big Hurricane Baptist Church, Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. Keith Debell and Dr. David Hinton.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Big Hurricane Baptist Church.
