

Tommy, the third of seven children, was born on February 4, 1938, in Eutaw. As a child, Tommy started working odd jobs to help support his family and continued to work multiple jobs throughout his teenage years. He established an excellent work ethic and carried that through his adult life. Tommy had a passion for sales & won “Realtor of The Year” with a local reality company. Later, he became a franchise owner for Rainbow Carpet Cleaning before founding his own business, Drummond Carpet Cleaning, which is still operated today by his son, Jason. After “retiring ", Tommy remained a Mr. Fix-It and handyman until his last days.
Aside from his work passions, Tommy was a very involved and loving husband of 61 years. He cherished the memories that he and Linda made raising Jason and Jennifer. He loved nothing more than visits from his three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren, which earned him his most adored name “Poppie”.
He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Eutaw Alabama and later joined and attended the First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda F. Drummond, Tuscaloosa; son, Jason Drummond, Tuscaloosa; and daughter, Jennifer Drummond (Jim) Smeltzer, Jasper; sister, Violet Clayton, Tuscaloosa; brother, Jerry L. Drummond, Eutaw; three grandchildren; Audrey (Pat) Higgins, Allison (John) Lay, and Adrian Shirley. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Alayna Jayne Driver (10), Josie Lay (9), Stella Lay (6), and Grayden Lay (17 months). Grayden received Tommy’s last honorable nickname, “Gravy”.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.
The Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 1:30 pm at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with the burial service following at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
Rev. Jerry Lake and Rev. James Walker will officiate the memorial service at Memory Chapel, and the burial service will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Robby Drummond, Don Drummond, Phillip Drummond, Nick Drummond, Heath Drummond, Dee Phillips, Lee Drummond, Dennis Drummond, Derek Phillips, Cody Drummond, and Michael Drummond.
