Vala G. White, age 81, of Tuscaloosa, died Jan. 4, 2013, at home. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Zelma Gilliam.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie Watts (Johnny); her sons, David Markland White (Sharon) and Thomas White; her sisters, Nancy Gilliam Nichols and Chrisneen Levine (Eke); her brother, Frank Gilliam (Edwina); and her grandson, Chase Watts (Sheila).
She worked daycare at many different places and for many families and was a leader/member for Avon.
Pallbearers will be Edward Smith, Kal Smith, Donald Shelton, Randall Gilliam, Jerry Lake, Bobby White, Kenny White, and Jeff Gilliam.
Honorary pallbearers are members of First Baptist Church.
