Vernon Williams was born on July 21, 1944, in Northport, Alabama. He attended Crestmont Elementary School and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1964. After reconnecting at a high school reunion, he married Ginger on a fall afternoon on October 14, 1995. Vernon began his work life in the heating and cooling industry at The University of Alabama and retired from Farley and Hysaw. He was a member of the Local 372 Union.
Vernon never met a stranger, especially if fishing was involved. He loved to fish and spent many hours on lakes around the state fishing for enjoyment or in tournaments. He had an amazing collection of fishing lures and loved to share his knowledge. He shared his fishing equipment with young anglers to foster their love of fishing when he could no longer spend time on the water. Vernon was kindhearted and would help anyone he could.
Vernon was a member of Gilgal Baptist Church and attended his Sunday School class as long as his health permitted.
The family would like to thank Dr. Clint McEntyre for the wonderful care and comfort he provided Vernon. A special thanks to Jimmy and Susan Williams for the time they spent visiting and caring for him during this time.
Pallbearers will be Shane Kilgore, Walt Kilgore, Jimmy Williams, Arthur Allaway, Ken Newton, and David Hartley
Honorary pallbearers: Ray and Carolyn Lowery, Edwin and Barbara Hysaw, Camille Sanford, Hugh Blanton, Danny and Cathy Day, John and Ann Mize, and Bobby and Linda Knowles
