

William R. “Bill” Falls of Tuscaloosa passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Mr. Ike Espy and Rev. Drew Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight L. Falls and Dutchie H. Falls; and his sister and brother-in-law, Hilda Ayres and William “Bill” Ayres.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Martha B. Falls; his sons, Billy Falls (Andrea) and Bob Falls (Marla); and his grandchildren, Stuart Falls, Will Falls, Madelyn Falls, Michael Falls, and Samuel Falls.
Bill was born and raised in Fayette, Alabama, where he graduated from Fayette County High School. As quarterback he led the Fayette Tigers to an undefeated 9-0 season as a senior in the fall of 1946. After high school, Bill attended Livingston University, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. Bill volunteered for service during the Korean Conflict, and as an officer in the U.S. Air Force served as a navigator flying the B-29 Superfortress out of RAF Molesworth, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, with the 582nd Air Resupply Group. It was during this time that Bill married the former Martha Bonner of Tuscaloosa and returned with her to live in England for the remainder of his service. Following his tour of duty, Bill attended Auburn University and graduated with a degree in Building Science.
Following his graduation from Auburn, Bill went to work as a project manager and estimator for N.C. Morgan Construction Company. Over the next 40 years, his role at N.C. Morgan changed as he became an integral part of the Tuscaloosa construction industry, finally retiring in 2000 as president and managing partner. As a devoted Christian, Bill served as a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church, and was a member and attended a number of Baptist churches over his lifetime. He loved Auburn University and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be Stuart Falls, Will Falls, Michael Falls, Samuel Falls, Rick Ayres, and Andy Dockery.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Steve Lovelady, Dr. John Miller, Leroy McAbee, the nurses and staff of Hospice of West Alabama, and former and current employees of N.C. Morgan Construction Company.
