
William Manley Parker, age 92, of Cottondale, died Jan. 26, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lewis and Minnie Lee.
Survivors include his wife, Louise K. Parker of Cottondale; daughter, Delores Weddle (Ernie Weddle) of West Blocton; son, William K. Parker of Cottondale; sister, Brazie Ireland of Tuscaloosa; brother, Houston Parker of Tuscaloosa; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was born to William Lewis and Minnie Lee Parker Sept. 30, 1919, in Northport, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother. He served in World War II in the Army. He was married to Louise Parker for 70 years. He was a member of Skyland Blvd. Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of VFW, Elks 393, and 50 plus years in Von Bayer Masonic Lodge.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Peppers, Ernie Weddle, Jason Webber, Heath Hayes, and Randy Parker.
Honorary pallbearers are Eddie and Sue Baker, Marshall Johnson, Cardiac Intensive Care Staff, DCH 6 South Nursing Staff, Elks lodge 393 members, and members of Skyland Baptist Church.
