She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who are thankful for knowing and loving her for so many years. Deloris was born January 29, 1928 in Superior, Wisconsin to Eleanor and Urban Thompson. In 1939 she and her family moved to California where her father found work in the shipyards of Northern California. She met her future husband Richard (Dick) when he was serving with the US Navy and they married June 21, 1947. The couple eventually settled in Palo Alto, California where Richard and his brothers owned and operated a Grading and Paving Business. Deloris, husband and sons eventually settled in Paradise, California where they lived for 18 years. In Paradise she was involved in many community activities and had a successful career caring for the elderly. “Dick and Deloris“ moved to Idaho in 1981, first living in Twin Falls and then moving to West Magic where they lived in the home the two of them had built. Deloris was very active in the West Magic community. She served several terms as an officer of the West Magic Fire District donating several quilts to their fund raising efforts. Deloris will be remembered as an amazingly active woman always busy with gardening, canning, and sewing. She was an avid quilter creating beautiful quilts she gifted to each of her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and many of her friends. Deloris also enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family. She never forgot a birthday or an anniversary religiously sending cards to those she loved.
Deloris is survived, by her sister Dorothy Demaree, her sons: Richard and wife Patty, Thomas and wife Lisa, Loran and wife Kay, and James and wife Amy. Eleven grandchildren: Dawn Kammer, Amy Oss, and Richard Gillespie, Jamie Fielden , Travis Gillespie, Tony Collins, Gretchen Scott , Thomas, Rudy, Josh and Christopher Gillespie and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, and her grandson David. The family expresses their gratitude to Elaine Todd and her staff at Alpine Manor in Kimberly for the loving and wonderful care they gave Deloris during her stay with them.
