Heber was born to Heber Glenn Bingham and Phebe Linford Bingham in Logan, Utah, the oldest of 12 children.
He grew up on the family farm where the value of hard work and a love of gardening was cultivated. He attended schools in Dayton, Idaho, and graduated from West Side High School. He attended Utah State University for a year before serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern Canadian Mission.
Upon returning home, he continued his education at USU where he participated in the Delta Phi chorus. Music was a joy to him, and he encouraged it in his family. For almost 25 years he looked forward to every summer when he attended the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre.
He graduated in Secondary Education and taught Jr High science for one year in Grace, Idaho. During this time, he was introduced to his future wife, Helen, by his sister. They were married on April 3, 1969 in the Logan Utah Temple.
They moved west of Blackfoot, Idaho where he taught 7th grade life science in the Snake River School District; during his early years of teaching, he returned to USU with his young family, and over the course of several summers, earned his Master’s degree in Instructional Technology. Education was important to him and they emphasized that importance to their children, who all earned college degrees, and several earned advanced degrees.
Heber taught in Snake River for 17 years where they were blessed with 7 sweet, brilliant, and perfect children, 2 daughters and 5 sons.
He loved teaching his students about the natural world around them, but, when an opportunity opened in Wyoming where he could use his advanced degree, the family relocated to Wyoming. They spent 20 years in Douglas, Wyoming where he was the elementary school library media specialist. His favorite part of each day was to share his passion of reading with the students.
After retiring, he and Helen served as missionaries at the Oklahoma State University Institute of Religion in Stillwater, Oklahoma. After 2 years in Oklahoma, they returned briefly to Wyoming before retiring to Twin Falls, Idaho.
They enjoyed visiting family and friends in many locations. His family was his proudest accomplishment.
The gospel of Jesus Christ was his foundation. He served diligently in many church callings throughout his life, including bishop and temple worker. He was a great example of exemplifying the Savior’s teachings.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Glenn and Phebe. He is survived by his wife, Helen, mother-in-law, Jean Pyrah, and children, Linette (Todd) Hlavaty, Logan, UT, Ray (Susan) Bingham, Idaho Falls, ID, Richard (Rebecca) Bingham, Jerome, ID, Mike (Nichole) Bingham, Cheyenne, WY, David (Heidi) Bingham, Payson, UT, Rosie (Joe) Emmett, Powell, WY, Paul (Amanda) Bingham, Boise, ID and 22 grandchildren.
