John was born in Cameron, Missouri, July 15, 1941 to Verl and Myrtle King. He was the fourth of six children.
Throughout his life, he continually sought to serve others and his love of his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ shown in his countenance. He was a devoted and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, some of which were Bishop and High Counselor. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. Additionally, he was the manager of United Electronics and Longview Fibre. Amongst these responsibilities, however, he always found time to be with family and loved any chance to go hunting.
An excerpt from an anonymous quote taped inside his scriptures reads, “stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit – It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.” He never quit, even until the very end.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Sandra (Sandy) King, his two daughters: Lisa Wilcox and Sara Choate, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 229 Park Avenue, Twin Falls on May 19, 2016 at 11:00 am, preceded by a viewing at 10:00 am. Following the funeral, there will be a graveside service at the Filer cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of White Mortuary and Crematory, Twin Falls, ID.
