Seth was born August 6, 1917 in Richmond, Utah. He married his sweetheart Virginia Gladys McEntire on August 7, 1942 in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple for time and all eternity.
In his youth he taught himself to play the guitar, harmonica, and squeezebox. He loved to sing and even had an opportunity to sing on the radio. His favorite song which he sung to his children was "Old Shep."
Seth worked at Western Gear Works in Hollywood, California producing parts for Navy ships and airplanes during World War II. He was considered valuable enough in his machinist profession to warrant a military service deferment.
After a two year transition he began his 40 year career with Amalgamated Sugar working as an instrument man, machinist and retiring in 1983 holding the position of assistant master mechanic.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. He served in many church and priesthood callings.
He and his wife were called to serve a mission in the Boise, Idaho
temple.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Virginia, one daughter, Candace Wahlstrom of Twin Falls; 4 sons, Neal (Karen) of Pocatello; Gene (Barbara) of Twin Falls; Rex (Christina) of Twin Falls; Hal (Katie) of Meridian; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and one sister, Eloise Hansen of Providence, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, two brothers and one sister.
In his youth, Seth worked for the railroad for a brief period of time that led to a lifelong love affair of steam locomotives. He ran the first steam traction engine in Cache Valley, Utah that was brought in by his grandfather. He had a love of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and a natural born marksman. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals. His greatest love was having his family gathered around him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 1 , 2010 at the Twin Falls Stake Center on 2085 South Temple Drive with Bishop Rustin M. Hatch presiding. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31st at White Mortuary and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday at the Twin Falls Stake Center. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
