

She was born on December 22, 1923 in Tyler, Texas.
Ruth was a long time member of First Baptist Church and Friendly Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. The past four years she was a member of Southern Oaks Baptist Church in Tyler.
She was an active Sorority Sister of a women’s sorority, Phi Sigma Alpha and for many years served as President where she arranged many conventions and functions for sorority sisters all over the USA. She was an amazing woman who contributed a lot to her community.
Years ago she had been President of the Smith County Home Demonstration Club, had been active in demonstrations and showings at the East Texas Fair and head of the Women’s Crisis Center in Tyler for a few years. Ruth had wonderful listening skills and always gave great advice.
She will be missed by all her friends and family. Ruth was a devoted wife, mom, and grandmother to everyone in her family. Everyone who ever met her loved her. She was considered to be a Lady by everyone!
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband George Dunn, son Tommy Dunn, and four sisters and one brother.
Survivors include daughter Elizabeth Dunn Blair and husband Bob Blair of Newcastle WA, son Robert (Bubba) Dunn and wife Terri Dunn of Lake Cherokee, TX; daughter Trena Dunn Holloway of Kent, WA; granddaughter Michelle Dunn Casel of Tyler, TX; grandsons Robert and Daniel Dunn of Houston, TX; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and brother Bill Martin of Indiana and sister Lanelle Martin Denison of Houston, TX.
Ruth lived an amazing life and will be missed by everyone!
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 19, at 2:00 pm at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.
