He grew up in Delaware and was drafted into the Navy following high school. He served for 40 years between active and reserve duty. He was married, and widowed, twice. He enjoyed traveling in his retirement years.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula Stankiewicz of Miami, Florida; son, Kim Downes of Palestine, Texas; daughter, Jamie Wright of Mt. Selman, Texas; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 29, 2015, also at the funeral home with Pastor Phil Chamberlin officiating. Interment will follow at Larissa Cemetery in Bullard.
