George was WWII veteran. He started in the National Guard in 1938 to 1940 and then enlisted with the U S Army. He was in Troop H 112th Cavalry. He earned many medals: Asiatic Pacific with two bronze Battle Stars, The Purple Heart, The American Defense Service Medal along with a Good Conduct Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge. He was the Master Sargent of the Troop H. 112th Cavalry.
On March 19, 1945 he married his sweetheart Martha Lou McRae of Sabinal, TX, they were married for 72 years until Martha passed away in 2017. George worked for LaGloria Gas & Oil for 42 years until he retired. They raised 2 children, Dottie & Richard. George along with his wife were very active in their church Tyland Baptist. Over the years George also loved taking his children & later on his grandchildren camping & fishing. After his retirement George & his wife spent time traveling the U S & Canada.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Martha Lou McRae Campbell; his son, George Richard Campbell; brothers, J D & Jack Campbell; and sister, Florence Getty.
He is survived by his Daughter: Dottie Campbell, 9 grandchildren, Missy & spouse Ben Chapman, Shelly & spouse John McKeehan, Tammy Phelps, Brett & spouse Prissi Campbell & Ryan & spouse Lauren Campbell; 9 Great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:00 pm Monday in the Chapel of Tyler memorial Funeral Home with visitation 2 - 4 pm Sunday. Mr. Campbell will be laid to rest in Tyler Memorial Park with Military Honors.
