

Homer is predeceased by his parents, Joseph Cowling and Fannie (McCorkle) Cowling; brother Delta Ray Cowling; sisters Willie Jewel Stafford and Ruby McKellar.
Homer is survived by his loving wife Betty, of 66 years. They were married on October 15, 1948 in Bishop, Texas.
Homer was born on November 5,1928 in Howard County, Arkansas and grew up in Raymondville, Texas, where he graduated high school. Homer was a man of many talents. He served in the United States Army as a military police officer stationed in Oakridge, Tennessee. He then went on to own and operate many businesses throughout the years with his wife Betty. They owned several restaurants and antique shops during their time living in Arkansas and Texas. Homer and Betty moved to Tyler in 1987, founding and operating Cowling, T.E.E. for many years.
Homer was a member of Sylvania Baptist Church since 1999.
Homer is lovingly remembered by his wife Betty, of Tyler; daughter Betty Boyd and husband Britt, of Kaufman; grandson Blake Boyd and wife Shannon, of Rockwall; grandson Braden Boyd and wife Andressa, of Tyler; grandson Brace Boyd, of Tyler; and great-grandsons Eli Boyd and Grant Boyd.
The funeral service will be held at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home on August 27th, 2015 at 1:30 pm with a private burial to follow. Reverends Matthew McKellar and Phillip Dancy will be officiating.
Homer will be remembered by his family as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family will miss him dearly but they are thankful for their many wonderful memories with him.
