

Services for James F Barnes, 83, Tyler, TX will be 10:00am Firday at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. B.C. McCoy officiating with burial in Tyler Memorial Park with Tyler Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements Mr Barnes was born March 18, 1929 in Jackson, MS to Ira F. & Cabbie Barnes and Passed away on June 29, 2012 in Tyler.
Mr. Barnes graduated from Central High School Jackson Mississippi in 1947,served four years in the US Army 1948 - 1952, honorably discharged as a Corporal. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College in Clinton and a Master’s degree from University of Mississippi in Oxford Ms,
Taught Economics and Government at Tyler Junior College for 54 years from 1955 – 2009
He was a Member of First Baptist Church Tyler, Deacon, sang in the Adult Choir, taught in the Adult 8 Men’s Sunday School class, Sang with the Good Old Boys Men’s Chorus,Blood donor, Boy Scout Leader, Long-time Precinct 16 Republican Chairman and Election Judge and an avid reader.
Survivors include Wife of 56 years Ruth Westling Barnes of Tyler, son James F. Barnes Jr. Tyler, daughter Sylvia Wilkinson and husband Gerald of Tomball, daughter Kay Barnes of Hewitt, son John Barnes and wife Tracy of Chandler, granddaughter Kelley Elam and husband James of Tyler, grandsons Adam Wilkinson of Lubbock, Kevin Wilkinson of Austin, and Brian Wilkinson of Tomball, great granddaughter Kensie Elam of Tyler. Also survived by sister-in-law Barbara Bouchelle and husband Larry, niece Lynn Thompson and husband Evan, nephew Lawrence Bouchelle II and wife Bernetta, nephew Carl Leon Westling III and wife Jana, nephew Michael Bouchelle and wife Demaris, nephew Jeffery Bouchelle, nephew William Willoughby and wife Alisa, nephew Frank Willoughby and wife Leslie, niece Jeannie Carroll and husband Wade.
He was preceded in death by parents and a sister Dorothy Willoughby
