Janet Louise Crane was born November 24, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Iowa Wesleyan University where she met her husband, Emery. Janet supported Emery in his 30-year career in the United States Air Force, and they both retired to Hideaway Lake, Texas in 1978. She peacefully passed away with her family at her side on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Janet was predeceased in death by her husband of 72 years Emery Crane; son Alan Crane; grandson, Damen L. Day; parents (Helen and Basil); brother, Gene and his wife Marty; and sister Eleanor.
Janet is survived by her sons, Dave (Diane) and Steve (Patricia); daughter-in-law Jo Ellen; and daughter Kathy Day (Ron). She was beloved by her grandchildren, Michael (Corinne), Jacob, Timothy, Luke (Renee), Ava, Alison, and Erin, as well as great-grandchildren (Raven, Owen, and Cooper).
Janet played a critical role in supporting her husband during his service in the military. She raised a beautiful family and made each new deployment destination a home. We cannot begin to explain the strength she demonstrated when Emery was deployed to Vietnam. Her house was the one where all the kids hung out, and she was known for her sense of humor. Janet had many gifts including needlepoint, bowling, and sewing. She especially loved to play the piano and organ and passed this passion of music on to her children and grandchildren. Janet also loved to travel in their RV, especially to Ruidoso, NM, and to visit their family across the United States.
A celebration of life for Janet will be held at a later date. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.tylermemorial.com for the Crane family.
