Jerry W. Mathis

On the evening of September 22, 2015, Jerry Wayne Mathis earned his heavenly wings at his home in Tyler, Texas, as a result of a long battle with cancer; while being with family. He was 68 years young.

Jerry Mathis was born in Tyler, Texas on May 1, 1947. He was the seventh child out of eight children born to Loretta Newell and Leonard Mathis Sr.

Funeral services will be held at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas on Monday September 28, 2015. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. and the graveside service will be held at 11:00 at the same location.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Loretta Newell and father Leonard Mathis Sr., Sisters Wanda and Melba Mathis, and Brothers Jodie and Leonard Jr. Jerry’s late wife Jody Mathis, his son Berrell, and grandson Braden Zachary Stokes.

Jerry is survived by his wife Jerrie D. Mathis, his two sisters Zelda Harris and Geniva Haynes, and a brother Ray Mathis, his three daughters Lisa Stevens, Tracy Russell, and Audra Mathis, and his four sons Jerry Jr., Steven, Donold, and Dawayne Mathis. Grandchildren Brianna ‘Muffin Nichole’ Wallace, Braxton Stokes, Lauren Bauer, Tomas Mathis, Ayden Mathis, Brittany Mathis, Daniel Mathis, Trista Sampson, Bradley Prevatt, Emily Mathis, Dwayne Mathis, Ashli Meadows, Wade Mathis. Great Grandchildren Baby Z, Brooklyn Preston, Rhyston Wallace, Khopelyn Wallace, Gage Bauer, and two new baby Mathis’.
