Mattie Margaret Martin

Funeral Services for Mattie Margaret Purtle Martin, age 93, of Lindale will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. David Martin officiating with Rev. Bruce Rudd assisting with burial in Tyler Memorial Park.

Mrs. Martin was born on October 14, 1920, in Bowie County to Harold and Mollie Faye Miles Purtle and passed away on June 22, 2014 in Lindale.

Mrs. Martin lived in Tyler and Lindale area most of her life, was a homemaker, a member of First United Methodist Church in Lindale, Busy Bee Quilters and volunteered at We Care Thrift Store.

Survivors include sons, David Martin and wife, Vicki of Lindale, Dan Martin and wife, Barbara of Jasper, Alabama; daughters, Krista Pemberton and husband Larry of Lindale, and Letha Hamel and husband Jay of Conroe; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; brothers, Robert Purtle of Texarkana, Sam Purtle and wife, Mary of McKinney; brother-in-law, Weaver Mills; and sister-in-law, Lessie Purtle.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clay Martin; parents; brothers, Richard Purtle and Glynn Purtle; and sister, Francis Mills.

Pallbearers are Craig Pemberton, Christopher Martin, David Martin, Curt Malone, Jason Echols, Mitchell Morman and Josh Gamble.

Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Melissa Malone, Amanda Morman, Jodi Echols, Nicole Gamble and Lauren Hamel.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to David Powell Food Pantry at Lindale First United Methodist Church or charity of choice.
