Nora McDaniel Casida, age 87, of Whitehouse, Texas passed away at home under the care of Hospice Plus on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. She was born on Wednesday, November 20, 1935 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Andrew and Blanch Holliday.
Nora was a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; all to whom will miss her dearly. Nora picture framed and at one time had her own business in Chandler, Texas. Then she went back to school and studied at Tyler Junior College to become an activities director for nursing homes. She was known as the 'selling bread machine.' Nora would demo the bread her daughter baked, and very much loved working with her. She loved gardening, planting flowers, mowing and being outdoors. Nora enjoyed baking, reading books, fishing, traveling, and has been all over the U.S.! Lastly, she loved to play Woody on her tablet. Nora could sit for hours playing Woody or reading a good book.
Nora is survived by her loving children, Jenny Vickers of Whitehouse, TX, and Benny (Joanne) Wood of Kilgore, TX; step-children, Dwayne McDaniel of Dallas, TX, Ricky (Janie) McDaniel of Forney, TX, and Mynetta (Arch) Cockerell of Dallas, TX; sister, Shirley (Bobby) Gage of Pritchett, TX; 7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Nora is preceded in death by her son, Danny Wood of Whitehouse, TX; infant twin, Robert Holliday; and brothers, William (Sallie) Holliday, and James (Jane) Holliday, both of Albuquerque, NM.
A time of visitation for Nora will be held Monday, January 30, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, following the graveside service at 11:00 am at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery.
