Graveside services for Octavius "Tay" Martin Coke III of Tyler are scheduled for 4:00pm, Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Tyler Memorial Cemetery with Brother Rick Childers officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Coke was born November 11, 1923 in Kansas to the late Octavius M. Coke and Willie Bee Boyston and passed away May 4, 2011 in Tyler. He was a retail clerk and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, which served in WWII. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Geraldine Hamilton Coke of Tyler; step-sons, Bruce Waid and wife Shirley of Emory, Wesley Waid of Mississippi, step-daughter, Claudette Phelps and husband, Melvin of Lindale; seven grandchildren; two nephews Mike Coke and Wife Suzy , Joe Coke and Wife Jana and four great grandchildren and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one step-son.
Pallbearers will be James Malone, Kevin Waid, Jamie Phelps, Matthew Waid, Ray Summrow and Kenneth Jackson.
Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home.
