He married Celestean Craig in 1952 and his lifelong journey of devotion to family began. They had a wonderful life together until Celestean passed away in 1993. Several years later he was blessed to marry Marilyn Dietz, and two families came together as one.
Roy was a man of many talents. He enjoyed spending time in the shop he built and always had a creative project going, whether it was building, painting, woodworking, pottery, or ceramics.
Music played a huge role in Roy’s life. No matter what he was doing, music would be playing in the background. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting outside in his swing watching the birds and listening to his favorite songs.
Roy had a deep love for nature. He so enjoyed being outside planting flowers and trees and creating a beautiful space around his home. He built houses for the birds to nest in and welcomed many stray animals into the family. He was a strong man with a gentle heart.
Of all the things Roy loved, family was top of the list, and his greatest joy was having us home for holidays, birthdays, or just to share a meal. When we gather together, we will miss his presence, but we will relive the good times, the laughter, and the love we shared throughout our lives. Love never dies.
Roy leaves behind two daughters, Jan Landers and Gina Dean; grandchildren, Sarah and Lance Larrew and Paul Dean; great grandchildren, Savannah, Andrew, Katelyn, Maddie and Hunter; and bonus family, Hunt and Mary Dietz and sons Andrew and John, Bryan Dietz and Rob McLean, Denise and David Starcher and son Jared.
A time of visitation for Roy will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 10:00 am at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, Texas 75704.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.tylermemorial.com for the Landers family.
