Samuel Louis Presto, Jr., of Greenville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at the age of 79. Born and raised in Greenville, Sam lived a life defined by faith, family, service, and hard work.
In March of 1966, Sam proudly entered the United States Navy, serving honorably during the Vietnam War until 1970. He was stationed aboard the USS Enhance, and his service took him through Pearl Harbor, Thailand, Guam, Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and across Vietnam. His time in the Navy shaped his deep sense of duty, patriotism, and resilience—qualities he carried with him throughout his life.
He later devoted his career to the trucking industry, working as a skilled diesel mechanic and later as Service Manager for Olympic International. Known for his dedication and expertise, Sam earned the respect and friendship of all who worked alongside him.
Outside of work, Sam embraced life with a joyful spirit. He loved attending rodeos and watching them on television, and he rarely missed a football game—whether college or NFL. His adventurous heart led him to travel often, enjoying cruises, motorcycle rides, trips to Cabo, and time spent visiting family.
Above all, Sam’s greatest love was for his family, his friends, and his God. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 29 years, Ona; his sons, Sam and Andrew; his daughter, Tina Lockhart-Smith; his grandchildren Fabian, Brandan with his wife Hannah, Sabastian, Nathan, and Axleigh; his brother Joe and wife Sheryl; his sister Leticia Aiken; niece Marie McAllister and husband Jerry with their children; and nephews Donnie Smart, Paul Campbell and wife Cindy, David Sunkle and wife Kelly, and Cody Copeland and wife Shyanne.
Sam will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, his unwavering faith, and his service to his country. His legacy lives on in the love he shared and the many lives he touched.
Memories of Sam will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lone Star Cowboy Church, 21627 Eva Street, Montgomery, TX 77356 (located on Hwy 105 past 149 toward Navasota, on the left).
A reception will follow at VFW Post 4709, 1303 W. Semands, Conroe, TX 77301, from 1:00–4:00 p.m.
