Wilbert Sonny John Hendricks Jr.

W. J. “Sonny” Hendricks, 73, of Chandler, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 in Tyler. Sonny, the former owner of Canton Carpets and a sales associate for Affirmed Medical, was born on September 20, 1940 in Gurdon, Arkansas to Wilbert John and Frances Geraldine (Patterson) Hendricks. He graduated from Arkadelphia High School in Arkadelphia, Arkansas in 1958. Following school he attended Ouachita Baptist University. He also worked for Western Auto as a manager and for Pepsi. He was a member of Edom Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse racing and family activities. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Ross Hendricks of Edom; daughters, Kim Hoegger (and her husband, Steve) of Wylie, TX; Karen Jowell (Rodney Sevier) of Barry, TX; son, Chris Hendricks (and his wife, Angie) of Longview, TX; brother, Larry Hendricks of Benton, Arkansas; sisters, Miriam Buck (and her husband, Elendle) of Arkadelphia; Georgia Cole-Garret (and her husband, David) of McKinney, TX; 9 grandchildren, Britni Moon of Tyler; Austin Sellers of Kerens, TX; Corey, Keili, Cara and Chris Hoegger all of Wylie, TX; Madison Hendricks of Hallsville, TX; Ross Hendricks of Longview, TX; Travis Owens of Longview, TX. The family would like to say a special thank you to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Mother Frances Intensive Care Unit.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Friday, November 22, 2013 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, also at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
