

He grew up in Chicago and southern California. Following high school, he went to a city college before being drafted into the Army. Following his military service, he attended USC and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1956. He worked in sales for many years before beginning his stained glass studio with his wife. They operated their studio for 47 years. Bill also enjoyed photography, travel, theater and family. He performed in the theater at the Tyler Civic Theater and the Edom Civic Theater.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Bill Walker. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Ben Wheeler; daughters, Holly Riney of Fort Worth, Kim James, and her husband, George of Chino, CA; son, Jeff Benson, and his wife, Lynne of Weatherford, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4-6PM, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 State Highway 64 West,Tyler. A memorial service will be held at 12:30PM, Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2001 Hunter Street, Tyler, Texas 75701 with Pastor Art Hill officiating.
