August 8, 1937 – January 1, 2024
Louise C. Gallagher passed peacefully at 86 years old, surrounded by the love and support of
family at her home in Oakdale, CT. Born in Brooklyn, NY she moved to New Jersey to raise her
family with her late husband Ken. Together they raised 3 sons and 3 daughters and were the
proud grandparents of 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Louise was known by many names but was universally loved by anyone she met. Whether you
called her Mom, Gram, Weezie, Aunt Lou or Mrs. Gallagher, you knew her love and support for
you would never go away. Louise accepted and loved everyone exactly as they were. She was
a friend to everyone who walked into her life, opening her home and heart to anyone who ever
needed it. She had a warm spirit, was incredibly selfless and had a witty sense of humor. Louise
was never afraid to tell it like it is... especially to her husband Ken. Their marriage of 66 years
was full of love, bickering and together always supporting their family.
Although most of her career Louise was a stay-at-home “domestic engineer” raising six of her
own kids - plus a few others - she still found time to make a name for herself working as a
librarian’s assistant, bus aide and tailor. Louise was very creative, passing her love of music,
books, games, sewing and crafting to her kids and grandkids. She was an avid reader and was
always ready to win a game of Trivial Pursuit or use a word you’ve never heard of in Scrabble.
In her retirement, she learned to play mahjong with her neighbors, sang in her community choir
and loved to roam the aisles of Walmart. She made time to attend every event her grandkids
invited her to, where she always packed the tissues for when she inevitably teared up. Some of
her favorite things included the color purple, eating lobster, getting every answer right during
Jeopardy and being surrounded by her favorite people at family gatherings.
Louise is predeceased by her husband Ken, her sisters Ann Young, Joan Meyers and Ceil
Grispino.
She is survived by her brother John Young, her children Kevin Gallagher, Carol Bermudez,
Christine Gouker, Kenneth Gallagher Jr, Sean Gallagher and Kelly Bartolo; along with their
better halves Maria Gallagher, Julio Bermudez, Joe Gouker, Gail Kupcha, Kim Gallagher and
Lou Cornet; her grandchildren Chad Gallagher, Cori Gallagher, Kimberly Gromadzki, Kevin
Gallagher, Cristin Rivera, James O’Hanlon, Anthony Alley, Brittany Mula, Corrine Alley, Jessica
Reynolds, Clayton Gallagher, Joaquin Bartolo, Enrique Bartolo; along with their better halves
Eric Gromadzki, Denny Rivera, Jessica Alley, John Mula and Paul Reynolds.
Her great grandchildren Isaiah Gallagher, Imani Rivera, Tyler Gromadzki, Sante Gallagher,
Josephine Alley, Caitlyn Gromadzki, Madison Alley, Brantley Santa Lucia, Ryleigh Mula, Ian
Reynolds and Cole Mula, and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Louise was a true matriarch. She created a family of loud, loving and loyal Gallaghers who will
forever remember her smile, love and friendship.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
