

Uncasville-Theresa “Tess” Sarayusa, age 96, passed away on December 16, 2014 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. She was born on October 7, 1918 in Staten Island, NY to the late Blazej and Victoria (Zembrowski) Baciewski.
In her early years, Tess worked as a weaver at Shelton-Looms, left to raise her family, then returned to work in 1966 at T. G. Faria Corp until her retirement in 1985. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, bowling and gardening as well as travelling. She also loved to dance, especially to Polka music at Ocean Beach and The Pines, in NY. She continued to dance well into her late 80’s.
She is survived by a son Richard Alfiero and his wife Julie of Scottsboro, AL., a daughter Theresa Morse and her husband William of East Lyme, and a daughter Patricia Overbey and her husband Kevin of Warrenville, SC. She also leaves behind a granddaughter DeeAnn Morton of Uncasville, a grandson Kevin Overbey Jr. of Warrenville, SC , her beloved great grandson Jaylen Callender of Uncasville and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by husbands George Alfiero, and James Sarayusa as well as brothers John, Stanley and Edward Baciewski and a sister Lucille Gauthier.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Greentree Manor, where Tess has lived for the past 5 years, and the nurses on the 6th floor at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for their gentle and loving care.
Family and friends may visit Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, 61 Norwich New London Turnpike, Uncasville on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at which time we will be traveling in procession for an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Church, Maple Ave. Uncasville. Burial will immediately follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Montville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Montville Social Services.
