Al is survived by his partner of 15 years Donna Torre, and her family daughter Danielle (Phil); children Hunter and Alana; son Joey; Al's sisters Virginia Dauth (Rick Fisher) of Dallas, GA; Mike Dewald (Sabrina), his nephew and their children Keegan, Cole, Lulu, Jasmine and Ashton, and Shannon Fick (Mark) Dallas GA; and Jean Dauth of Sioux Fall SD. Al was born April 17, 1948, in Newark, NJ; he spent childhood through adulthood in Union, living in the family home. He was a proud alumnus of Union High School Class of 1966 followed by Union County Technical School then working at Singer Newark supporting the war effort.
Al represented Rolled Metal Products, and he did business and sold for both American Roll Formed Products, now Hynes Industries, and also Superior Roll Formed Products. Al loved his work and was very proud of the relationships and friendships he made over the years. At the time of his passing, he was semi-retired.
Al was a 27-year proud member of the Masonic Brotherhood. He was initiated into Loyalty Lodge No. 33, F&AM of Union, NJ, on May 21, 1996, and received the FC and MM degrees shortly thereafter. On May 15, 2010, he joined the Valley of Northern NJ of the AASR Northern Masonic Jurisdiction and tirelessly worked for over 15 years as a member of the Board of the Children's Dyslexia Center of Scotch Plains. Al was awarded the Distinguished White Apron award for his service to the Craft in 2012. He served as Worshipful Master of the lodge in 2017 and has served honorably as Treasurer from 2019 until the present. Al is survived by the many brothers, who will miss his presence in years to come.
Al and Donna were masters in the Ballroom - competing, teaching, watching and just enjoying. Dancing in ballroom competitions throughout New Jersey was a mutual love. A memorable trip taken in 2018 to Argentina to master the Argentian Tango perfected their art of ballroom dance. The couple danced three to five nights a week enjoying each other gliding across miles of dance floors. When they weren't on the dance floor, they were on adventures on Al's 28' Inboard Formula boat docked at the New Jersey shore. Al's love of the ocean and what it offered to enrich his and Donna's life was endless and tireless. Al found the love of his life with Donna; they were planning to live their golden years together. He dreamed of a nautical adventure by boat from the states to the Bahamas.
Throughout his lifetime the thrill of adventure by the way of downhill skiing, motorcycles, scuba diving, roller skating and worldwide travel kept him busy. Al looked forward to each and every trip to Georgia and South Dakota to visit his sisters and spend time with family was important.
In lieu of flowers, at Al's request, please send donations in Al's memory to the Children's Dyslexia Centers (a 501(c)3) of NJ Scotch Plains Campus, 301 Forest Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
