Ayree Yvonne Walker

Ayree Yvonne Walker age 98, of Irvington, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday December 27, 2017. A visitation will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church 144 Norman Street East Orange, NJ, on Wednesday January 3, 2018 from 10-11 AM, followed by a celebration of life at 11AM. Ayree was born in Abbeville AL, April 3, 1919 to the late Lee and Ida Ward Kirkland and was the last of seven siblings. She was a long time active member of the Eastern Star. Ayree was a member and Past Matron of the Starlight Chapter 5 and Queen of Sheba Grand Chapter both of Newark, NJ. She was also the president of the Montrose Terrace block association and served as the mother of the Holy Ghost Tabernacle Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Roberts. Beloved wife of the late William Walker, devoted mother of Mary Frances Gilbert, William A. Walker and wife Lois, Rosetta Henry (husband Ronald Henry, deceased), Amirah Hendrickson and husband Ricky, the late John A. Walker Sr., the late Lagresson A. Walker Sr. (wife Gail), and Honorary daughter in law and caregiver Pattreen Washington. Loving grandmother of Zandra, Lamont, Savoy, Stephanie, Lagresson Jr., Janeen, Sharonda, David, John Jr. ( wife Lawanda) and (the late Kevin Walker). Ayree is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
