Catherine Aureli Burke

Catherine “Aurelie” Burke (nee Mcleod) age 78, of Colonia, NJ, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Friday September 19, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Carpenter Church 3rd Avenue corner of Walnut Street in Roselle, NJ, on Monday September 22, 2014 at 10AM. Interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery Linden, NJ. The family will receive their friends at McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Avenue Union, NJ, today Sunday September 21, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Born in Brooklyn, NY she moved to Linden, NJ, in 1959 with her husband John and their 5 children. Aurelie worked for Bell Atlantic for 23 years before her retirement in 1991. She was a loyal member of the Union County Irish-American Association and a dedicated patron of the Stella Maris Chapel in Port Newark, NJ. Aurelie was predeceased by her parents Allan and Catherine McLeod, her husband John F. Burke Jr. and her daughter Colleen P. Manto. She is survived by four of her children, John Burke, Leslie Tuzzio and her husband Vinnie, Catherine Kiselow, Aurelie Pereira and her husband Manny, as well as her son-in-law Charlie Manto and her daughter-in-law Lucimar Burke, she also survived by 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a brother Allan McLeod. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Stella Maris Chapel 170 Corbin Street Port Newark, NJ 07114.
