Claire Gilbert

Claire Maria Gilbert went to Heaven on January 3, 2024. Claire was predeceased by her husband Salvatore (1984) her parents Thomas and Emma Bregen, Her sisters Mary Bregen and Emma Cordasco, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mickey and Ruth Gilbert, her son-in-law Edward Sakowicz, and her niece Michelle Kanitra.

Claire is survived by her daughter Janet Sakowicz, her daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Ted Kreder, Claire and Tom Byrne, and Catherine and Ricardo Vasquez. Grandchildren Teddy, Thomas, Monk, Chris, Richard and Grace, great grandchildren Hudson, Charlotte, Hampton, Henry, and her nephew Michael Gilbert.

Claire was a registered nurse at several former hospitals including Orange Memorial, Orange Orthopedic, Elizabeth General, St. Elizabeth and Union Hospital where she was an operating room nurse for the last 15 years of her nursing career until her retirement.

Claire enjoyed Broadway shows, fine dining, vacationing down the shore, reading, spending time with family and friends and being kind to everyone.

Visitation hours will be on Sunday January 7, 2024 from 2-5pm at McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ. A mass will take place on Monday January 8, 2024 at 10:30am at Holy Spirit Church, Union, NJ followed by interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
