Doris T. Mariano

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. Final viewing will take place at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 14, at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at Holy Spirit Church, Union, at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will take place at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J.

Doris was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and resided in Roselle, N.J., and Scotch Plains, N.J. She lived a short time in Baton Rouge, La., before settling in Arizona in 2011. She was a dedicated member of St. Anthony's Parish, Elizabeth, where she sang in the choir and also of St. Joseph the Carpenter Church, Roselle. She was an active member of the Peterstown Italian Club and enjoyed the weekly Women's Knitting Group.

Doris was the beloved daughter of the late Anthony and Genevieve DeMarzo and was the youngest of six children, all of whom have predeceased her. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. Mariano; loving mother of Franceen Reeher and her husband, Larry, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Dareen Wearstler and her husband, John, of Columbus, Ohio; adoring grandmother of Anton Naess of Chicago, Ill.; dear sister-in-law of Esther Mariano and Anna Carroll both of Arizona. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to H.E.A.R.T. Inc., c/o The Doris T. Mariano Memorial Fund, Phoenix Mountain Nursing Center, 13232 N. Tatum Blvd., Phoenix, Ariz. 85302. The family wishes to express gratitude to the nursing home and their staff for the loving care they provided during Doris's residency since 2011 and especially in her final days.
