

Herbert H. Dahmer, 81, passed away on Wednesday August 1 at Overlook Hospital. Born and raised in Newark NJ to John and Katherine Dahmer, Herbert lived in Union for 47 years before moving to Lopatcong in 2006. He worked as a bricklayer/ mason for Samuel S Graham Inc. from 1961 until 1991. He then became a partner and vice president before his retirement in 2005. Herbert was also a proud member to the Masonic Lodge in Union, Scottish Rite, and a Shriner at Salaam Shrine in Livingston, NJ where he was a member of the Arab Patrol serving as president and captain. He served as a trustee and Sunday school teacher for many years at Battle Hill Moravian Church, and also with the Cub Scouts, Weblos, and Boys Scouts as a helper and leader.
Herbert was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy as well as his sister Kay Spetalnik. He is survived by his loving sons John, Robert and his wife Laura, Glenn, Mark and his wife Dawn, his adoring grandchildren Katie, Sam, Jennifer, Robert, Matthew, Peter, Jessica, Stephanie, Markie, and Daniel. He is also survived by his sisters Florence Schnegelberger, Johanna Ballman, and Ruth Campleman, and his brother Arthur.
Visitation will be held on Sunday August 5 from 1-5 PM at the McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave Union. Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Springfield on Monday August 6 at 10AM with interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Herbert’s name may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa FL 33607
