John Peter Helmstetter

John P. "Pete" Helmstetter, 60, of Clark, N.J., formerly of Union, N.J., passed away peacefully on May 13, 2014, at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, N.J. A funeral service will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, on Friday, May 16, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive their friends today, Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. Pete was employed by Union County for 17 years before his retirement in 2011. He was a bright spirit, whose clever wit and dynamic personality made him a friend to all. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Gloria Helmstetter; his devoted daughters, Cindy and her husband, Michael Vincent, Jaclyn and her husband, Joseph Hrdina, and Jenna Lee and her husband, George Niotis; his loving grandchildren, Ava Grace, John Tyler, and Cara Nicole; dear brother of Daniel and his wife, Susan Helmstetter, Jane Helmstetter, Steven and his wife, Joanne Helmstetter, and Lisa and her husband, Robert Edmund. Pete is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to JDRF.org.
