

Born February 12, 1950 in Newark, NJ to the late Raymond and Dorothy (Forte) Rutledge.
John was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Rutledge Hunting Club and the Teamsters for 36 years. He also spent many years as an umpire for girls' softball games all around the state of New Jersey.
He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Dorothy Rutledge, as well as his mother- and father-in-law Gladys and Francis Ralston and a sister in law Kathleen Ralston.
John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Diana, daughter Diana and husband Joshua Schmidt, a son John Rutledge Jr., brother Carmine and a sister in law MaryAnn Rutledge, brother Raymond Rutledge, a brother in law and sister in law Frank and Paddy Ralston, two grandchildren Daniel and Patrick Schmidt, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ on Sunday April 24, 2022 from 2-6pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at the St. Michael's Church, Union, NJ on Monday April 25, 2022 at (TBA) followed by entombment in the St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
