Jose Manuel Romao, 81, of Elizabeth, N.J., passed away on July 25, 2014, in Ovar, Portugal. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union N.J. A service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 9 a.m., with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, N.J. Jose was born in Ovar, Portugal, and resided in Elizabeth since 1959. He was the proud owner of JR Construction Company, Elizabeth, which he founded in 1973. Jose will be remembered for his love and devotion for his family. He was the beloved husband of Maria Pinho Romao and the late Maria Valas Romao; loving father of Al Romao and his wife, Miroslawa, and Tony Romao and his wife, Beatrice; adoring grandfather of Thomas and Ashley Romao.
