Joven T. Encabo, age 77, passed away on March 2, 2026. Selfless, resilient, kind-hearted, thoughtful, and inspirational, he will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love by all who knew him. After this introduction, he will be lovingly remembered as “Bossing,” as he was known to family; “Captain” to his uncles; and “Dodong” to his closest friends.
Born on August 27, 1948, Bossing was born and raised in Cebu, Philippines, and migrated to the United States in the late 80’s. He worked at the Postal Services and a repackaging company and later retired early to care for his teenage son—an act that reflected his steady devotion and quiet strength.
Bossing was the kind of friend you could rely on—always one call away, ready to offer a helping hand. Patient and unwavering as a father, he never complained, even when waiting two hours while his son spent time with friends after school.
A tennis enthusiast, Bossing never missed a match, whether it was the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, or the US Open—always glued to the screen. Quiet and private by nature, he kept to himself, yet with a drink and a moment to relax, his voice and presence would come through. Above all, he was a great dad and a good husband.
Services will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, on March 12, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
“My Bossing, my Daddy long legs—may you rest in peace. We love you.”
