Pat was born April 24, 1936 and raised in Summit, NJ where she spent her days with her friends at school and voraciously reading books and poetry. She graduated from Summit High School where she received a full scholarship to Newark Teacher’s College. She soon met her husband, Dick, at the St. Theresa’s young adults’ group and before long they were married. Pat raised her 7 children in Chester and Mendham and was a very active member of St. Joseph’s Parish and regularly volunteered her time to St. Joseph’s School and Delbarton School. Pat moved to Maine later in life to be closer to many of her children and grandchildren, where she taught them the skill of crabbing off their local dock.
Pat was tirelessly devoted to her family and those in need. Her generosity, selflessness, and kindness knew no bounds. She was rarely seen without a smile on her face or laughing. She loved spending vacations with family during the winters in Vermont and summers at the Jersey Shore. Extended family parties were typically hosted by Pat at the home in Mendham and are fondly remembered for all the fun that was had. Pat was whimsical and funny and often turned to song to brighten up everyday situations. Pat developed many lifelong friendships and was always ready with a shoulder to lean on or an ear to bend. She possessed an extraordinary nurturing spirit and children of all ages loved to be with her. She, in turn, was never happier than when she was singing lullabies to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making pancakes with them for breakfast or attending their many sporting events, plays, and recitals.
Pat died surrounded by her children and grandchildren after spending her favorite holiday, Christmas, with them. She was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving family including her husband of 64 years, Dick, her children Mary Kay Waters (Jim Waters), Liza Pajak (Mike Pajak), Sarah Traynor (Mike Derrey), John Traynor (Liz Traynor), Sheila Traynor, Tom Traynor (Amy K.
