

Richard Hamilton, 66, of Roselle Park died Friday January 29, 2010 at home with his family by his side after a brief illness. Born in Elizabeth, Richard graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Elizabeth. After graduation, he entered the United States Air Force. Following an honorable discharge, Rich worked for General Motors for 35 years in the parts division warehouse, retiring 10 years ago. He was a member of the American Legion Post 229 in Roselle. Predeceased by his parents, Tom and Catherine (Maul) Hamilton, Rich is survived by his wife of 42 years, Arlene (Koester ) Hamilton, two sons, Joseph and Brian and a daughter Kathleen & her husband Jim O’Brien, who affectionately called Rich “Pops”. Also surviving Rich are two brothers, Tom and his wife Susan, and Donald and his wife Janine. He is also survived by a brother in law Fred Koester. He was also considered by many in the family as a surrogate father, especially nieces and nephews Darlene Jacoby, Ernie & Antonietta Mills , and Robert Mills. He was known by many nicknames including Rich, Richie, Hammer, and Sunshine. Our families best memories are the poker games! Remember “ Think long think wrong”. Funeral from the Mccracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave Union on Wednesday February 3 at 9:00 with a Mass being offered at St Teresa’s Church Kenilworth at 10:00. Interment Rosedale Cemetery Linden will follow. Frriends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
